At this point, I feel like this is what should be the main idea of what happened to Rose, but I never see anyone talk about it, so I’m not sure if this is something people actually… think about? Or if it’s just me.

What happened to Rose; Why couldn’t her and Steven exist at the same time?

This isn’t a question I see a lot of, it’s just sort of… A thing that the show tells us and, from what I’ve seen, everyone just goes with.

Maybe because the answer’s obvious I’ve just seen no one say it?

She poofed after her body went under too much stress from childbirth. Because, let’s face it, there’s hardly anything the female body can go though that’s less painful than childbirth.

Steven was connected to her though his belly button, the umbilical cord she made to grow Steven herself.

When she poofed, that connection shrank and took her gem and drove it into his stomach.

Steven is acting as a human bubble. Or, even better, like Lapis’ mirror. She can’t reform around him.

I feel like this is the obvious answer, and it confuses me that I’ve never seen anyone else talk about it. But now, I wanna talk about what that means for Steven.

Lapis, in her mirror, could control it, speak though it. She could also reply her own memories though it.

Steven’s visions are exactly that; His mother showing him memories. Only, he’s not a mirror. He’s a living creature with his own thoughts and actions, she can’t show him everything or control his speech perfectly.

I feel like there have been moments when Steven… Wasn’t Steven.
