It’s obvious now that both blue and yellow are… unhappy with how things on homeworld are run. Deep down, they don’t want this, but White Diamond does.

It’s possible that deep down when they saw Steven on earth, how different it was, something resonated with them and how… imperfect it was

They both bossed pink around like how White bosses them, because just like how pink was afraid of blue and yellow, they’re both afraid of White.

White is the example, the leader, and if they don’t follow in her footsteps there are severe consequences to follow suit.

My opinion is subject to change, of course, but it’s a little theory (or would it be a headcanon?) for now :]
