“WE NEED TO TALK”

Just because a character is showing emotions and they are portrayed sympathetically or they do something relatable or ”human” does NOT automatically translate into = “Redemption”

Even the most horrible people who ever existed/exist in the real world too, probably did/do something you can relate to. “Horrible/Evil people” still have hopes, dreams, fears, interests, they laugh they cry they hate and love things. They exist here with you just like any other person would. That’s a fact. That’s how our brains/minds function whether we like it or not. (And I’m talking about non-psychopaths. Because sure some people literally have a physical fault in their brain which makes them unable to feel empathy but that’s not what I’m talking about here)

So just because you can understand and relate to, or even go as far as to have sympathy towards a horrible person, it doesn’t mean that you “redeem them” or “respect” them.

It just means you see their humanity. That they’re a living feeling, thinking being just like you. That they have a mind. A brain capable of functioning. Just like you. Just like me. We all have that. As humans. (and I guess in the show’s case: aliens too)

We all have “good” and “evil” tendencies in us and our actions and choices matter the most. And if your choice is to give a chance for someone who realizes that they have done something wrong…? If you want to help someone who’s lost? If you wish to understand someone better? If you feel like there is a way to make them understand? If there is a spark of hope that things could be better?

That maybe… They might, just might, if you work together….

Change their mind?

Well…

Now this is just how I feel personally. But I think it’s almost always worth a try. The pay off you might get from it, is more valuable than not trying at all. Because something very beautiful can come out of it. Something so beautiful that words pale when trying to explain it… It has to be experienced. It must be seen. I needs to be felt.

But that’s none of my business…
