I loved the new episode, but I just realized something
When pink diamond get out of the gem for the first time after years being inside of steven, the first thing that she does is looking out for steven. When she sees he’s alive, she still watching if he can live without the gem and with that… she was testing if she can coexist with him.
But as we know, we saw that steven falls and was screaming that he needs the gem, that was the moment when she knew the only way that his baby can survive was without her, so she sacrificed herself again for the health of his son.
When I saw the hug between pink steven and steven, I thought that has 2 meanings
1: the importance of the self love
2: the only way that a mom could hug his son for first and last time
