i love little kids with very niche interests. Like for awhile I nannied for a family who had a little girl who loved old black and white movies. She adopted a transatlantic accent, constantly wore a long string of plastic pearls, and would often dramatically drape herself over pieces of furniture when told to do something and say “I just can’t do it babe”

i once dropped her stuffed animal and she yelled “there’s been a murder!”

I wonder if Yellow smiles in response to Jasper looking at her because Jasper is safe, or if she’s just showing Jasper that all is well now.

I think I reblogged this before, but looking at it again: jasper reforms and immediately wants to fight “rose” which is completely natural and expected considering when she was poofed. and suddenly she notices that her surroundings are both completely different and confusing??? and then she takes off her helmet and looks at yellow diamond, who smiles.

it honestly reminds me of how kids will reference what their parents are feeling if they don’t know how to process a situation.

like as an example: when toddlers fall down and they just kinda take a minute to process what the heck just happened, even if they aren’t badly hurt if the parent runs over like “nooo are you okay????” suddenly the kid thinks the world is ending because the all knowing guardian is freaking out.

and what does yellow do? she smiles. which tells jasper that things are ok. without you know, patting her on the head or something that would probably mortify both of them.

Rewatching the special I was admiring Blue’s expressions in this scene, and then naturally wondered what she was getting so excited about. Figured out it was her coming up with the idea to heal the corrupted gems by taking a bath together and asking if there was a place where they could do that since it cut to everyone at Rose’s Fountain in the next scene. The excitement in her face is just even more adorable now because it’s her realizing she’s gonna get to reexperience sitting together as a family again with White, Yellow, and now Steven while also healing the corrupted gems :’)
