I know y’all are talking about today’s episode but have you ever thought about how Pearl was drawn at the beginning of the show

And even her ORIGINAL design

Can you imagine if those art styles were the same as today,

Can you imagine blue and yellow pearl in those same concepts

Is it bad that I’m… sorta glad this song wasn’t connected to PD or Pearl, or any sort of major big reveal? I’ve missed the episodes like this, the ones that slow down and take time. It was almost refreshing, a breather.

And when the strums of “escapism” started to play and it turned to Greg, playing, my heart… if anything, it’s a song connected to Greg. His struggles with his unaccepting family, a hinted at past that seems so small in comparison to what Steven’s going through, but is still mirrored. A song of longing, to be where one belongs.

My Post-Escapism Theory

So in Escapism Steven goes into another watermelon Steven and spends most the episode trying to get to Beach City
And I’m convinced this is foreshadowing the next episode
First of All, Mask Island is split in half, just like Homeworld

While Steven’s trying to get home, a civil war breaks out. From the looks of it, the star-bearing melons are fighting for the status quo, worshiping the T-posing overlord. The melons wielding spears and wearing war paint are the rebels.

Eventually the melons come together and help Steven build a raft, and when they’re waving him off…

These two, the yellow-haired melon with a yellow star and a rebel melon with a flower necklace, look side to side, before also waving Steven off. Now, in the Battle of Heart and Mind promo…

Yellow, whose eyes are white, appears to be attacking Blue. Blue Diamond has always seemed the most inclined to break rules (though not as much as Pink Diamond and Steven), neglecting her duties to visit the zoo, “humoring” Steven’s name, allowing him to bring Connie and a defective amethyst to the Era 3 Ball. Yellow, on the other hand, is more inclined to the status quo, which, in Escapism, is what the yellow-star melons appear to be fighting for.

TLDR Steven starts a civil war on Homeworld, Yellow and Blue take opposing sides, but eventually come together as the gems of Homeworld bid Steven farewell while he departs on a ship headed for home.
