Despite the fact that I do in fact see Connie’s actions at the ball in character, I think that there is a lot of validity to the complaints people are making. There is an issue of writing there, but mostly because it’s once again, a pacing issue.
The show dangled the illusion of Steven and the Diamond’s getting along, Steven getting what he wanted easily, but perhaps ironically with many su crit takes I’ve seen, it dashed those dreams too quickly. Steven’s commitment to play the role of pink diamond sort of falls through with this episode because, not the writing itself or the show, but because it was too short of a time.
That’s why WD not showing up doesn’t drive home the point that the ball was failing and they should have danced anyway, because they can’t fit into homeworld. So they might as well not, ya know? Be themselves, stop trying to be pink and perfect. All because there wasn’t enough build up.
I could see there being another episode in between this and the last, to really just push the point that White needs to show up, and that the gems don’t have time to wait around and play Pink Diamond’s court for days, weeks, or months (as realistically, the diamonds rebuilding a relationship with “pink” would really need for that sweet emotional build up, and the crash when they refuse to accept Stevonnie and the crystal gem fusions) because, idk some reason, like food for Connie, water, or hell, white diamond orders earth to be destroyed now that pinks home.
But pacing in su is always a difficult topic because? The scheduling is ass? And that’s entirely CN’s fault, not the crew. Like, they could have devoted another episode to this arc, but then we’d probably not have it all for another year and a half. At this point it feels like the writing has caught up to its scheduling, so the crew are sorta pumping out the plot quickly so they don’t have to keep us waiting for it anymore. But just as I’ve guessed, that causes it’s own writing issues.
After watching “Legs From Here To Homeworld”: Awww, dey love der sister. Why did I ever think they were evi-
Finished watching “Together Alone”:……oh. Right.
Steven Universe: The show that makes you feel bad for abusive genocidal fascist dictators, and then punches you in the face with Reality Ensues by reminding you that they are abusive genocidal fascist dictators.
I cant believe people still think Steven is trying to redeem the diamonds when its fully obvious that he is only working with them to heal the gems on earth
Like, he isnt trying to make them good people, he is trying to heal thousands of mind fucked innocents.
You know despite the fact that were getting a diamond fight with Steven and the diamonds, I gotta actually wish for Steven to point out to the diamonds this Is why they lost pink, ya know. Just destroy them with words before he poofs these bitches
Theory on tower scene: As Steven’s locked away with Connie, he’s going to mentally connect with a gem who’s also a prisoner, a random gem, his lawyer the blue Zircon, or an unlikely gem ally (Possibly White’s Pearl).
Alternate theory on the tower scene: Steven’s going to find out what White Diamond has been plotting all these eons on Home world and why she hasn’t left her ship lately. Blue Diamond: White, hasn’t left Home World in eons. Yellow Diamond: White doesn’t leave her own head these days.
I think it’s quite possible White Diamond’s been plotting something sinister for ages and needed Pink Diamond out of the way. She’s the polar-opposite to White Diamond in many ways. And Pink’s a natural born leader who could get gems to follow her without her status as a diamond.
If Pink was able to run free and make colonies, even persuade other gems from other colonies to follow her, she could unite three of the Diamond armies against White’s forces.
Steven can break mind control: Steven’s going to escape the tower – with or without the help of gem allies- and change his clothes. Realizing he has to save his friends from execution/imprisonment Steven’s going to: 1) escape back to the ship with them, only to be stopped by White Diamond. 2) Try to escape to the ship with the gems, only to fight Yellow Diamond who’s forced to stop him by being ordered to shatter his friends.
Going by the promo flying around, it looks like White’s Pearl might have shown Steven and Connie where the crystal gems are being kept. Or alerted the Diamonds to the gem rescue. Also, Yellow Diamond looks like she did not want to blast Steven or his friends as her eyes were shut tight. When she poofs someone, her eyes are usually open and looking down upon the person with a sense of authority. Rarely has Yellow Diamond been associated with shattering a gem apart from idol threats.
For the scene of Yellow Diamond blasting Blue out of her tower/sauna: I think it’s very possible Blue Diamond could have been manipulated by White Diamond. And Yellow blasted her out through a wall while Steven followed and perhaps makes an attempt to break the mind control by reaching Blue’s mind again.
hmm you know because Homeworld has a different way of seeing how things should be done and view. I can’t really get mad at how Blue acted toward the crystal gems. Still rude yes, calling Garnet that and Connie and a pet. But what to expect from 6000+ society based on caste system and colonizing things? (again not excusing it)
I find it interesting, Blue still had the crystal gems even Connie attend the ball. Lets be honest if Yellow was there and not blue she probably have them not come expect pearl. So she’s looking for them sorta mainly out of concern and fear with on White’s reaction.
Basically its gonna take more work with the diamonds in order for era 3 finally be put into motion. And real set back for Homeworld is White diamond herself. Seeing her say can either make or break all other (even another diamond’s) decision
So somebody’s going around saying – without a scrap of evidence – that a friend of mine is sending out rape threats to people who think Connie is to blame for what happened in Together Alone.
Right, okay.
This is no longer funny light-hearted meme E350. This is nearly blinded with rage E350.
I cannot, cannot begin to fathom the sort of mental processes that allow someone to think that this is in anyway acceptable – over a cartoon, no less. This isn’t discourse, this is outright bullying, this is deliberately trying to ruin over someone’s online life – because they disagreed with them over a character’s actions.
How do you justify that? How do you morally justify doing that? How morally bankrupt do you have to be to think that this is okay?
You think you’re crusading for justice? Because Rebecca Sugar and the crew haven’t lived up to your standards of perfection? Because you don’t like a character and therefore think no one else should?
Well, I will not tolerate this. And if you do, you know where the unfollow button is. Because this is no longer funny. It isn’t even just slightly annoying. Because you know what? This isn’t just that it happened to my friend. It’s that it happened at all.
Whoever you are, I know I can’t stop you. But I can tell people what you are. You are a coward anda bully.
Oh, and one more thing;
Connie is the best. She did nothing wrong. The more you do this, the louder I’ll say it.
