Ya know what I want

I want Steven Quartz Universe to get mad.

And by mad, I want him to rip the Diamonds a new gem placement because, as much as I love how sweet he is, being sweet isn’t going to make them listen.

And after the events of “Together Alone”, where they poofed his family (and new found ally), I know Steven will take it hard.

But I don’t want to see it weigh him down. I wanna see it rocket him to a state that the Diamonds cant ignore.

Pink became Rose and started the rebellion because they wouldn’t listen to her. But the fact she hid behind a disguise was an issue.

Can you imagine how they wouldve reacted if Pink had rebelled as herself? With a fusion and a renegade pearl and a bismuth with a grudge and thousands of other gems who, like her, were sick and tired of being treated as a lesser.

I want Steven to tell the Diamonds that its their fault they lost Pink. That the way they treated her was the reason she rebelled and faked her death. I want him to hammer it home that them being awful people drove away the little sister/daughter they loved and I want it to cut them deep.

Maybe it’s just the petty gal I am but every so often, I wanna see these kinds of people, who think they’ve done nothing wrong, fucking bleed for their sins.

But that’s just me~

Pink loved Pink Pearl, and Rose couldn’t forget her

sissolid:

Like many have already theorized, there was something going on between Pink and Pink Pearl – and White, very clearly, didn’t approve of it.

I remember back when We Need To Talk was released, Matt Burnett confirmed that Pearl’s jealousy, regarding Rose and Greg, was indeed romantic. And I’m pretty positive, that someone asked him if it was an one-sided thing from Pearl’s side, which he answered in another tweet, and I quote, ‘’It was more complicated than that.’’ (I think, it’s been a while, but he did say it was complicated between them)

What if the ‘’complication’’ was Pink Pearl? What if Pink had actually fallen for her Pearl, and vice versa? It seemed like Pink Pearl went along with Pink’s shenanigans, and from Steven’s dream in Together Alone, where he enacted in Pink’s place, she blew kisses at her and such. Maybe their romantic(?) relationship had gotten too close and too obvious, and White thought it to be so inappropriate, that she took away and punished Pink Pearl (and indirectly punishing Pink as well). Although Steven’s dreams about his mother’s memories can be sometimes a little weird and incoherent, the air-kiss and their laughs and smiles didn’t seem outrageous.

While Pink was heartbroken and possibly heavily traumatized, White made her a new Pearl, that would enact as the perfect Pearl – keep Pink in line, and not go along with her free-spirited, rebellious nature (ironically enough, huh lol)

And as we know, the rebellion happened, and Pearl changed to become her own self, and Pink became Rose, etc. And then Pearl slowly fell in love with Rose, the more she became free from Homeworld’s oppressive standards and social rules – and the image of Pink being Rose slowly faded, and started to see Rose as, well, just Rose, the leader of the Crystal Gems.

But Rose couldn’t forget. She was still traumatized, as to what happened to Pink Pearl, and Pearl possibly reminded her of that painful memory, in all of their thousands of years together. How White gave her the Pearl, we know and love now, to replace the original one.

Her reaction in Now We’re Only Falling Apart, when Pearl freaked out about needing to be replaced, seemed quite dark and frightened. Maybe that’s why Rose could never fully open up to Pearl (like she did with Pink Pearl perhaps) and kept secrets even from her – maybe that’s why Pearl couldn’t make Pink Diamond or Rose truly happy, because Rose hadn’t really let go of her past and the memories of Pink Pearl.

I don’t think Rose ever told Pearl about Pink Pearl, which is possibly why Pearl hasn’t brung it up yet (which caused lots of heartbreak for Pearl, as she could never figure out Rose’s complicated feelings towards her). I think Rose knew of Pearl’s love for her and wanted to return it somewhat, but never really could.

And we know from the episode Mr. Greg, that their relationship was complicated, even before Greg entered the picture. And although Rose expressed no interest in returning to Homeworld, her room seemed heavily inspired by the way the pebbles work. So maybe her love and sadness for her original Pearl never really went away?

Now, I’m not saying Rose ever took out her sadness over Pink Pearl at our Pearl and I do think she cared about her greatly, but she could still be a sad reminder to Rose in the back of her mind. Which isn’t fair to Pearl, but life really do be like that sometimes™.

And just to clarify, I don’t think Pearl was an emotional replacement for Pink Pearl, actually quite the opposite. Rose seemed to never fully commit to her. Which also makes it so much more tragic for Pearl, and that’s why I’m happy she’s letting go of Rose more and more.

All in all, I think Rose and Pearl’s story just got a whole lot sadder.

It did… It did get sadder…

Can’t believe folks are blaming Steven/Connie for everyone getting poofed

‘It’s bad diplomacy!’

Not really?

Diplomacy requires two sides willing to cooperate. To listen to each other. To hear each other out.

The Diamonds haven’t shown that once. Yellow and Blue Diamond have spoken with Steven, sure, but they’ve both been too focused on their own ideas to really care about what their precious Pink Diamond thinks or feels. White Diamond hasn’t even bothered to give him that much.

What would Steven have accomplished by continuing to play perfect princess, hiding both his and all his friends’ individuality? That’s what Pink Diamond did for her whole life, and as we saw, that didn’t work out the way anyone planned or wanted.

One way or another, the Diamonds needed to have their bigotry confronted; accidentally, Stevonnie found possibly the best way to do it.

atazieus411:

Instead of saying it’s all connie’s fault, why don’t you blame the backward ass ways of the diamonds, huh? no one would attack garnet like this, or opal. LEAVE👏🏾CONNIE👏🏾ALONE👏🏾 She was trying to make steven feel better and they care so much for each other that they just happened to fuse. nothing wrong with that. If it’s anyone’s fault, it should be white, blue, and yellow, Shame on ya’ll 😠😠😠

Ali: The more I think about them, the more bad I feel.

Can you imagine how they must have felt?

You live on this planet where fusion is banned. You really can only do it as a combat tactic and only when it’s the same type of gem as you (and even then some may look down on it). And beyond that all you know is that it’s awful and wrong and disgusting. Two different gems fusing? Unthinkable! And fusing because they like each other? That’s just some insane concept. And maybe you don’t even know it’s possible. Maybe you don’t even know something like that can happen.

But then you meet that one person you just really like. And it doesn’t even really matter if it’s platonically or romantically, you just like them. You like being around them, you trust them, they make you happy and you make them happy. And then one day you take it all one step further and something happens and suddently you are one person. And it turns out it’s wonderful experience! The kind of unity you never felt before. Sharing your mind and body with somebody you know is worthy of it. Having this experience of being more than one person.

But it’s wrong though, right? That’s what you have been told your whole life. You don’t even really understand why it’s wrong, I mean, it was amazing and made you feel pure and loved and whole, right? But if anybody finds out, you are going to get shattered! Nobody does it! It’s just you! There must be something wrong with you! You clearly failed on being a good gem. And those thoughts keep plaguing you, but then… You want to do it again. Because despite what you know everybody else thinks, you experienced it first-hand. And nothing bad happened. Only good things happened. Despite all the doubts, it made you happy more than ever. So you keep fusing and you can’t even talk about it to anybody, because, clearly, you know what they are going to say. It’s too risky to share this secret with anybody. You are both more happy and more scared than you were you entire life.

And then you go to a ball and there she is, the long missed Pink Diamond. The lustrous, perfect, amazing, one of it’s kind gem. The kind of gem that cannot be wrong. The kind of gem that cannot do wrong. You know that much. And she fuses in front of you, like it’s nothing. Fuses and smiles and laughs. And then Ruby and Sapphire! And then Pearl and Amethyst! You are not the only one! You are not wrong! You are not a bad gem! All those doubts, it was all not true! A Diamond did it! And it Diamond does something then obviously it’s amazing thing! The validation in that moment. It must have been overwhelming. You finally feel like everything is going to  be really okay.

And then the other Diamond goes and poofs you on the spot. Just… god… I kept laying in my bed, unable to sleep, thinking over and over again how awful that must have felt.
